Franklin Electric Releases 3200 Series Pump Line

Franklin Electric, a leader in the production of ground water pumping products, has made it a priority to focus on 5 Key Factors for Success: quality, availability, service, innovation, and value. As part of the process to ensure these Key Factors are always met, Franklin continues to devote significant time and resources to the development of new products. The company’s continued success is based on driving innovation and value into all products. This is accomplished by specifically targeting development at the needs of our customers who are working to meet the ever-increasing global demand for a clean water supply.

Franklin is pleased to announce the release of the 3200 Series, a reduced diameter 4-inch submersible pump line. The 3200 Series significantly increases Franklin’s ability to cover the full range of 5 & 7 gpm clean water pumping applications. The new pump line is designed so that all parts of the pump end, including the cable guard, fall within the diameter of Franklin Electric’s industry leading submersible 4-inch motor. The reduced diameter pump end makes it ideal for installations where the well is considered encrusted or tight in comparison to a standard 4-inch well. The 3200 Series pumps also offers a hydraulics stage design that has been optimized for greater water and pressure outputs even when set at deeper well depths.

Models:                                                                                                                                                         5 gpm: ½ to 1.5 hp pump motor assemblies – ½ to 2 hp pump end only
7 gpm: ½ to 1.5 hp pump motor assemblies – ½ to 3 hp pump end only

If you have any questions regarding the new 3200 Series pump line or any of our pumping solution products, please contact Franklin Electric Customer Service at 1.800.269.0063, or Franklin Electric’s Technical Hotline at 1.800.348.2420.

Series V 4-Inch Check Valve Update

At the forefront of every Franklin Electric product are the company’s Five Key Factors for Success: quality, availability, innovation, service, and value. To exemplify these characteristics, Franklin continuously reviews available products to ensure that the highest standards are met This review occasionally results in product modification, better aligning an offering to the market. It is Franklin’s goal to make sure product offerings are the best in class and always capable of meeting customer needs.

As a result of continuous quality improvement, as well as engineering lab testing, field evaluation, and feedback from pump installers, all Series V 4-inch pumps have been updated with a removable, spring-loaded Flomatic® check valve in the pump’s discharge head. This modification takes effect in Series V pumps January 1, 2012.

Be assured that Franklin Electric will continue this process of self-evaluation by monitoring product performance in the field. Our goal remains to offer only pumps designed and built to the highest standards of quality, reliability, and performance.

Should you have further questions concerning the 4-inch Series V pumps or any other pump product line, please consult your local Franklin Electric Representative, Franklin Electric Customer Service at 1.800.269.0063, or Franklin Electric’s Technical Hotline at 1.800.348.2420.

Honda Engine Shortage

In November 2011, heavy floods in Thailand caused a worldwide shortage of certain Honda engine models, supplied for portions of Franklin Electric’s product line. Franklin part numbers affected by Honda’s supply shortage are GX120UT1TX2 (4 hp), GX160UT1TX2 (5.5 hp), and the GX270UTPA2 (9 hp).

To help customers continue to receive product in a timely manner, effective immediately, Franklin will substitute the affected Honda item number with the corresponding Briggs & Stratton item number. (For example: if you place an order for a 90271008, you will receive a 90271108). At this time, the only engine available is the Briggs & Stratton.  If this is not acceptable, Franklin regrets that we will not be able to fill the order.

Please find a cross-reference chart between the two units below.

We will continue to monitor the situation in order to resume Honda engine offerings as soon as possible. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Should you have further questions concerning the substitution between these two product lines, please consult your local Franklin Electric Representative, Franklin Electric Customer Service at 1-800-269-0063, or Franklin Electric’s Technical Hotline at 1-800-348-2420.

Next Generation of 6-Inch Submersible Motors Launch

Franklin Electric is pleased to announce the next generation of robust 6-inch submersible motors following a successful beta trial in 2011. The 6-inch DR56 line of motors is being released into the latest edition of Franklin Electric’s submersible Irrigation and Industrial catalog.

Effective immediately, the 6-inch DR56 motor construction will replace the 6-inch Hi-Temp 50 °C 50 and 60 hp motors in the Irrigation and Industrial catalog. The 6-inch DR56 motor will be the only available option for applications requiring 122 °F (50 °C) rated motors.

The 6-inch DR56 motors are a result of research and development efforts to improve Franklin’s submersible motor capabilities in handling increasing ambient temperatures, higher pump thrust loads, and lower cooling flow demands in applications limited in available well casing space. The 6-inch DR56 combines a portion of Franklin’s Hi-Temp construction with new features, creating a package capable of providing up to 60 hp while operating in a 6-inch diameter well casing. The 6-inch DR56 motors are rated for operation in ambient fluid temperatures at or below 122 °F (50 °C). As with the beta trial units, the 6-inch DR56 motors will be provided as a single unit with nameplate information for both 50 hp and 60 hp pump load points.

Below is a table of the available models:

The 6-inch DR56 motor is considered to be Franklin Electric’s third available option for applications requiring more from a submersible motor. Due to the additional temperature capability characteristics of Franklin Electric’s 6-inch Hi-Temp 90 °C or 8-inch Hi-Temp 75 °C line of motors, considerations for one of these two constructions should be made prior to choosing the 6-inch DR56 for the application.
